§ 34-262. Permits for yard sales.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to conduct a yard sale in the city without a permit. Any citizen of the city or a charitable or religious entity which has a regularly functioning organizational structure and which conducts regular, periodic meetings in the city, wishing to conduct a yard sale within the city shall, upon request, be issued a permit by the city manager or his designated representative, which permit shall authorize one sale at one of the specific locations set out in section 34-261. Permits for yard sales conducted on an individual's residence lot or a church lot shall be issued without a fee, provided, however, no person may conduct or allow more than two such sales upon such site during each calendar year. Yard sale permits for use of the City of Millen Vendor Market on Cotton Avenue or in the Central Business District or Highway Commercial District shall be issued to any citizen or charitable or religious entity which has a regularly functioning organizational structure and which conducts regular, periodic meetings, whether a citizen of or located in the city or county, only upon payment of a fee for each such permit as shall be set from time to time by the mayor and council by resolution. There shall be no restriction on the number of sales per year at the Vendor Market on Cotton Avenue or in the Central Business District or Highway Commercial District.
